Business Challenges
- Training over 20,000 soldiers
to use newly deployed equipment such as the F43G series
radio in the field
- Finding a training solution
that is more realistic and cost-effective than in-classroom
training
Technical Overview
- 3Dnerve provides platform for simulation-based,
Level 4 Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) instruction
courseware
- Based on Macromedias Shockwave
3D delivery platform
- Full SCORM compliance and connectivity
with existing Learning Management systems
Business Benefits
- Eliminates the need for classroom
training
- Cost efficient
- Improved knowledge of new equipment
Problem
When critical equipment such as the ICOM F43G radio
portable transceiver for in-the-field soldier communications
is immediately deployed in the field after purchase,
in-classroom training for more than 20,000 soldiers
is not a realistic or cost-effective option. Interactive
Multimedia Instruction is an attractive alternative,
but the creation of these materials typically requires
many months of production and validation time.
3Dsolve streamlined this process using
its 3Dnerve platform, enabling extraordinarily fast
delivery of Level 4 IMI courseware.
Solution
3Dsolve successfully delivered state
of the art simulation learning courseware to the US
Army Communications-Electronics Life Cycle Management
Command (CE-LCMC), designed to provide Level 4 IMI for
the F43G series radio.
The course, which includes more
than four hours of training materials combined with
two and a half hours of testing and assessment, was
created in record-breaking time, exceeding the US Armys
expectations by delivering in less than two months.
Typical timelines for Level 4 IMI projects can range
up to 12 months and beyond.
This multimedia instruction helps urban-patrolling
soldiers leverage the next-generation F43G series portable
radios easily and effectively.
3Dsolve will maintain the course
by incorporating feedback from field usage in a planned
update.
The F43G courseware includes a 3D interactive electronic
technical manual (IETM) using Adobe Acrobat 7.0.
