3D Industry Forum
The purpose of the 3D Industry Forum (3DIF) will be to:
Further the adoption of 3D by establishing industry focused 3DIF offerings and market data which will be widely accepted and deployed with commercial viability by content developers, software and hardware ISV’s, governmental entities and end users

The purpose of the 3DIF shall be pursued through:

  • Promotion of 3DIF technologies and standards
  • Providing tools and information for use of these technologies
  • Defining conformance testing and compliance
  • Point of contact for ongoing 3D activities and development
  • Promotion of industry growth and ecosystem development
  • Education of business and end-user communities as to the value of benefits and usage models of 3DIF offerings
  • Coordination of efforts with other organizations that support similar and/or complimentary initiatives
  • Organizational goals will be realized by:
  • Open international collaboration on technologies and offerings
  • Contributions by members
  • Creating commercially viable and industry focused results
  • Membership value

3Dsolve is a founding member of the 3D Industry Forum, and 3Dsolve CEO Richard Boyd serves on the 3D Industry Forum board of directors.

ADL Co-Lab
The Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative, sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), is a collaborative effort between government, industry, and academia to establish a new distributed learning environment that permits the interoperability of learning tools and course content on a global scale. ADL's vision is to provide access to the highest quality education and training, tailored to individual needs, delivered cost-effectively anywhere and anytime.

By working with industry and academia, the Department of Defense (DoD) is promoting collaboration in the development and adoption of tools, specifications, guidelines, policies and prototypes that meet these functional requirements:

  • Accessible from multiple remote locations through the use of meta-data and packaging standards
  • Adaptable by tailoring instruction to the individual and organizational needs
  • Affordable by increasing learning efficiency and productivity while reducing time and costs
  • Durable across revisions of operating systems and software
  • Interoperable across multiple tools and platforms
  • Reusable through the design, management and distribution of tools and learning content across multiple applications

ADL Advantage
The purpose of the ADL Initiative is to ensure access to high-quality education and training materials that can be tailored to individual learner needs and made available whenever and wherever they are required.

The ADL Initiative is designed to accelerate large-scale development of dynamic and cost-effective learning software and systems to stimulate an efficient market for these products in order to meet the education and training needs of the Military Services and the nation's workforce of the future. ADL will achieve this through the development of a common technical framework for computer and net-based learning that will foster the creation of reusable learning content as "instructional objects."

SCORM-S1000D Testbed Project
3Dsolve has been selected to advise the SCORM-S1000D Testbed project, sponsored by the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Job Performance Center in Alexandria, Virginia. 3Dsolve will provide advice and assistance to the SCORM-S1000D Testbed team, led by prime contractor Intelligent Automation, Inc. (IAI).

SCORM, or Sharable Content Object Reference Model, is a popular standard for describing online learning, proposed and maintained by ADL. S1000D is a popular standard for describing electronic technical documentation. The SCORM-S1000D Testbed will explore the integration of online learning and technical documentation. 3Dsolve will bring to the project its unique experience in developing learning content and interactive technical manuals based on highly interactive 3D simulations.

Ecma International
Since its inception in 1961, Ecma International has developed standards for information and communication technology and consumer electronics. Ecma is a not-for-profit industry association of technology developers, vendors and users. Industry and other experts work together in Ecma to complete standards. Ecma then submits the approved work for approval as ISO, ISO/IEC and ETSI standards.
